I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks will happen in the next book.

Personally, I don't think that Bella will become a vampire. I can't see her giving up her parents, Jacob, and everything else to be a vampire with Edward.

I can almost guarantee you that some crazy stuff will go down on their wedding day, possibly involving the Volturi.

Maybe she'll finally have to come clean to her folks about Edward and his family!

All in all, I see Bella and Edward living happily ever after in the end. Either he'll find a way to become a human, or she will grow old and Edward will stay with her anyway.

So u r betting against Alice?

I am betting that Bella or someone is going to change their mind, rendering Alice's premonitions useless.

Believing that Bella will not become a vampire isn't betting against Alice. Remember, Alice doesn't see the future set in stone. She sees the future of the person while their decision is made. And Bella's decision (right now) is becoming a vampire.

I want Bella to become a vampire. I hope maybe then she'd be more independent. She seems really...weak in character in Eclipse and that was a disappointment. I think that she will become a vampire because if she doesn't then I for one would be mad at Meyer. She led her fans all throughout the books them eager that Bella will turn into a vampire. I remember reading the back of New Moon--the quote really made it seem like she about to turn into a vampire. Oh, and so did the ending chapter of Twilight. I just don't think it'd be fair of her for making her fans edgy about the vampire thing always "about to happen" and then she just doesn't do it.

Though I'm hoping Jacob isn't in there. Yeah go on, flame me. I hate him and he ruins the story.

I sooo agree with you! I never liked Jacob as a character not just as competiton with Edward. I think Bella will become a vampire just becase I dont see any other solution towards her and Edward being together forever. Which she has made very clear she wants.

really this is a bella/edward story,
i love the character jacob though (hopefully a spinoff) and maybe we'll see a jacob/leia coupling, but i understand that some people see him as interfearing with bella/edward, and i think that there wouldnt have been a bella for edward to comeback to if there wasnt a jacob and they certainly wouldnt have gotten victoria because the wolves wouldnt be tied to bella

I think in the end she'll be a vampire but they're will be more conflict than eclipse suggests. plus I think edward and jacob will fight!

If I remember correctly the original catchphrase announced for the book was "It will take your breath away" to me that hints she will become a vampire but I have a feeling it may not be in the way we want or expect.

I think she will become a vampire because her and Edward have to be together, and that's how Bella chose it to be.

I think that person's confused with what *could* have happened. Like the account we hear from the vamp-human breed from S. America.

Yeah, b/c when I read it I was like, "What?" That didn't happen it. It was a normal birth, just more gory-sounding.

Edward didn't actually rip her stomach open with his teeth, but he did rip the sac open, so it's kinda the same grossness. Pretty gory stuff.

Breaking Dawn should be an....interesting? movie. I think that's the right word.

i get a gross picture in my head when Bella's all mangled with her back broken and blood everywhere.

23Hermee
feb 4, 2009, 10:39 pm

The mind boggles as to how they're going to handle the scene with Kristen in a seductive black number with a PG13 rating. They'll have to nix the nude scene in the bathroom altogether.

24Muse_Freak1312
feb 4, 2009, 10:52 pm

i know! but i think the part where Bella is covered in feathers would look cool. all these soft white feathers EVERYWHERE!

25Hermee
feb 4, 2009, 11:09 pm

Yes, I imagine many will crack up over that ... if they do it right. I sure hope they don't muck it up coz that part made me laugh out loud. I imagined Bella looking like a chicken.

It doesn't matter really, since I'll be at least 17 when Breaking Dawn's out :)

I hated the fact that she even got pregnant.

28Joles
feb 5, 2009, 2:12 pm

Really? Did you envision it going some other way? Or were you just hoping it wouldn't happen?

It's interesting to question that...if the body isn't alive (the hair/nails don't grow) how would there be sperm? (It's not like he's a newly created vamp and they've managed to survive...) We're talking decades, here! LOL

29bombardalicious2
feb 5, 2009, 6:06 pm

The whole rest of the book is basically about Renesmee and thats why the Volturi come so then what would Breaking Dawn be?

Ha..I will be 19 when Breaking Dawn comes out..
That will be weird lol.

31Hermee

I wondered about that too, Jolene. I guess at the rate Renesmee grows, you'd have to call it supersonic too.

32G.A.B.E
feb 6, 2009, 12:34 am

About the how can vamps have babies .. it's called a plothole (LOL :)) .. some fans (not you, Jolene, just THOUSANDS of girls) don't get that authors don't sit at their desk and go, "Now, let me list every little question fangirls will ask me and answer them" :)

33MDLady
feb 6, 2009, 10:29 am

#28 exactly

What an easy out! I wanted something more I guess. Vampires have no bodily fluids but...bam! She's pregnant. I wonder if Ms Meyer is even aware that not all of her readers are 13. ( No offense at all to 13 yr olds ;)
I wanted to like book as much as I did the other three. It did have its perks but I was so disappointed.
And, if the Volturi were involved..I wanted a real war. It ended too perky and perfect.

34Joles
feb 6, 2009, 11:43 am

Well, technically they have the venom body fluid...so maybe that contains the little culprits. I'm sure Stephenie realizes there are adults that read it. She's mentioned very clearly that a female vampire can't have children (the whole growth thing) but she never specified that a male couldn't. I suppose since we choose to accept the lack of pointy teeth and the Cullens sparkliness and lack of bursting into flame/ashes at the sun we can choose to accept this as well. (Although, still far-fetched.)

MDLady, what did you think of the other vampire clans? I could definitely sink my teeth into more information about them. (Pun somewhat intended.)

35Hermee
feb 6, 2009, 4:06 pm

The majority of vampires aren't aware that they can get a human pregnant without also taking their life since it takes incredible restraint which most don't have or don't know they have so the vampires aren't sure how it can happen either. Carlisle was discussing this at length in Breaking Dawn the way any inquisitive medical scientist or doctor might, so I put it down to one of those things that hasn't been discovered yet like the cure for cancer. There are only two vampires who have impregnated human women so far after all so it's early stages for them to figure out how it's possible medically. Perhaps in a future book Stephenie writes about her vampires, we'll see a vampire woman and human man procreating.

36G.A.B.E
feb 6, 2009, 4:48 pm

Hmmm. But she did make it really clear a female vampire COULDN'T have children since their bodies don't have the monthly things anymore and their bodies can't change to accomdate a growing child.

37MDLady
feb 6, 2009, 7:21 pm

I think what we are forgetting..at least I was, that this is a fantasy. A YA fantasy at that. I just think it could have ended so much better...without having the girl end up pregnant. It seems the girl always ends up pregnant and it somehow saves the day.
There should have been a war as well. A real war with "deaths."

38G.A.B.E
feb 6, 2009, 9:52 pm

LOL :) I was annoyed at first about how there was so much build-up and no war, but then I thought about how much more chapters that would add, at least two, one for the war and one for the aftermath. Too much work :)

Doh. Wasn't thinking about that, Nicky. Course she can't. My marbles must have rolled out of my ears again.

MDLady, there is an interview where Stephenie Meyer explained why she did it. If I can recall which one it is, I'll post the link to it in here. She said The Merchant in Venice reference (the book Alice tore a page out of) was a clue that the final scene would resemble this play's ending. Also, she said the reason for it was because if it had been a war, half on each side would have had to die and she couldn't bring herself to kill off any of the Cullens.

I actually preferred this ending. War doesn't have to be resolution so it sends a good message that bloodshed can be avoided if a situation is handled tactfully. Also, I loved the fact that Bella, after having been initiated into the Cullen family only recently after longing to be officially part of it for so long, discovered she had such a strong power and was able to manipulate it to help save her family and the others who were risking their lives alongside them. That the power was a shield made it that much more poignant for me from a maternal standpoint. That is, mother protecting child as well as the Cullen family's instincts to protect their coven, which goes hand-in-hand with a maternal instinct. It demonstrated to a higher degree Bella's introduction to the life of a mother, and all the emotions and sacrifices this protective instinct entails.

40G.A.B.E
feb 7, 2009, 7:03 pm

That's actually really logical, Hermee, never thought that the Cullens would have to die too if there was a war. Glad she wrote it like she did :)

feb 7, 2009, 7:47 pm

If Alice died, Jasper would probably find some way to join her as well as the other Cullens might if their soul mate perished. An exception might be Rosalie who might not seek the same fate if she could raise Renesmee. Then again, maybe all would choose to stay alive for Renesmee if they lost their mate. They'd be a shell of who they were though. Not a good ending.

43G.A.B.E
feb 7, 2009, 8:18 pm

Very true. I can see Rosalie, however, staying alive so she can keep Nessie, just like you can :)
