I sent out all these invitations and didn't even post a Welcome! So here it is: my tardy WELCOME. I hope that more people will join us. Not too long ago another librarian asked for some suggestions of children's titles. I couldn't help. Hopefully, with a larger group, we will be of assistance to one another.

Hello, Friends. This is Deborah from the library at Quaker Center, Ben Lomond. I'm not here on a regular basis, but will try to check in when I am. My daughter Rose and I are in the process of organizing, cataloging, and "filling in the gaps" of this collection.

Blessings,
Deborah

Hi, Friends--

I want to join this group for PYMLibrary. This is Philadelphia Yearly Meeting Library, part of the "Friends (Quaker) Libraries of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting" group.

How can I join you?

--Rita Varley, librarian.

There used to be a button on each group's page that you could click on to join. But I don't see it in this new format. I sent you an invitation, though, Rita. Welcome!

Hi,
This is Monty at Crosswicks Meeting. This summer my husband, Jack, and an 'intern' Mike (who is one of our Young Quakers) and I have undertaken the task of organizing and cataloging our Meeting's book collection. We, like so many of the Monthly Meetings in PYM, were inspired by the library workshop you held at the Cherry Street Meeting. I just wanted to thank you for getting us started. It looks like lots of the Monthly Meetings are getting on librarything.com, too!
Thanks again for your guidance. Let's stay in touch.

Monty

P.S. About joining us... it seems to me that all you have to do is go to librarything.com and sign up. Then you are part of the group, which includes everyone on that site. mc

I just wanted to say thanks for the invitation to the group. It does look like lots of Monthly Meetings are joining LibraryThing. We decided to use LT because the Pittsburgh Monthly Meeting does not have access to its own server space, which is required to host an online catalog using our cataloging software; however, we can export our titles and then upload to LT pretty easily.

Monty (and anyone else who is getting started with cataloging) -- I am the PMM's library intern (and a new MLIS graduate), and we are in the process of finishing cataloging our collection, so if there's anything I can share to help your process, let me know!

Take care,
Marie

Thank you for the invitation - only just read as I've been neglecting the cataloguing for a while.

I am the current librarian for Clacton-on-Sea Local Meeting in Essex, England. (For the sake of clarity, BYM has changed meeting designations - Preparative is now Local and Monthly is now Area. So, are they going to keep "Yearly"??)

I'm currently engaged in transferring our handwritten catalogue to LibraryThing, before using the list to do a "stock take".

Judy

Welcome, Judy. Interesting change in names. Some years ago, similar changes were made in Australia. Our meetings are Local (Preparative) and Regional (Monthly).

Dear Judy,

I'm interested in reading your message containing BYM -- you must mean a different organization than the one I'm used to.

In the United States, BYM stands for Baltimore Yearly Meeting.

Allison
Charlottesville, VA, Monthly Meeting

P.S. Our meeting has not yet joined LibraryThing -- I'm using it for my personal library -- listed under SallyLou61.

Hi, Allison. I'm assuming Judy means Britain Yearly Meeting, which many years ago was called London Yearly Meeting.
