Just an idea for a new thread for the group:
What books inspired you to play/did you use to research the wargame you're currently playing?

At the moment, we're just finishing off a Stalingrad campaign, the sixth battle (at the Red Barricades Factory) we'll be playing next week sometime.

Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor
Stalingrad: Infernal Cauldron by Stephen Walsh, belies its coffee-table appearance to put in a great operational and tactical analysis of the battle and its strategic context

Wargaming Late Romans/SubRoman Britons against Goths/Scots-Irish (DBA in 15mm), reading The Fall of the Roman Empire: A New History of Rome and the Barbarians and Goths, Huns and Romans: Wargaming in History as well as rereading an old favorite Generalissimos of the Western Roman Empire by John Michael O'Flynn.

I have a lot of painted War of 1812 figures that I've done for a project. My partner in the project is Doug Hamm, who is half of the Larry Leadhead duo, and a good friend. Unfortunately Doug has all the Brits, and I have most of the Americans.

Last week I read Richard Barbuto's wonderful Niagara 1814 book, which has prompted me to pull out my piles of unpainted 1812 lead and begin working on it. This was really a case of a great book inspiring the resurrection of a project.

For those gaming the last 9 months of WWII in Europe, Max Hasting's Armageddon will give you a nice introduction. Hastings writes well and he does a nice job balancing both fronts and giving voices to all sides of the struggle.
