Hi folks,
I've just joined Library Thing in the last two weeks and I'm still finding my way around. If anyone can direct me to a tutorial or instructions for posting in italics, linking to files, etc. I would be grateful.
I have two jobs. 1) I'm a Dirtector of Technology for Instructional Support for a California county office of education. I provide opportunities for teachers to acquire skills in the use of technology in curriculum and I support them when they have trouble. 2) I'm adjunct faculty a Columbia College in Sonora Calif, I teach the US History survey courses. So this site and the content of this group are right up my alley! :)
For my initiation I'll offer The Shirley Letters, a first hand account of life in a California gold mine camp from 1851 to 1852. I'd also like to offer Peter Silver's recent book Our Savage Neighbors: How Indian War Transformed Early America. It's an excellent take on the nature of the cultural and ethnic divide between European colonists and Native Americans in the English colonies prior to the Revolutionary War.
Best,
Daniel
