Barcodes: bulk-adding in specific order

I need to add barcodes to an existing collection of 700+ items. I want to bulk-add the barcode numbers in call number order, so that I can apply the corresponding barcode stickers while shelf reading. But when I use the bulk-add barcode tool, it seems to assign numbers in random order. Applying stickers to items with randomly assigned barcodes will take much longer than applying them in the order they're shelved, so I'd like to avoid that if possible. Am I overlooking something? If not, any ideas?

Sorry for the trouble! Automatically assigned barcode numbers are assigned in the order that you cataloged your library (by bookid, essentially), so if you did not catalog your library in shelf order then you will need to either manually assign your barcode numbers in shelf order or check each barcode label as you're applying them to the books on the shelves.
