>3 Narilka: oh, I just read book 2 recently, and it definitely ended on a cliffhanger hehe

I think I'm going to spend some time with the Greatcoats in Saint's Blood.

Just back from a scary alternative/future America with Riot Baby (fantasy because of special powers in one of the protagonist; otherwise would have been dystopia and over in SF instead of here).

I'm with Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser in Lankhmar Below.

I've just arrived in a New York City that's somehow alive, in The city we became.

>10 ScarletBea: That was good! May it ring well for you too.

I'm in the Twin Cities where Tookie is haunted by a former customer in a bookshop. And maybe by the book that killed her. (I don't know; I'm barely in the middle of The Sentence.)

>4 ScarletBea: I finished. It was a fun if a slower plot. The main thread is wrapped up though there is a minor cliff hanger.

Now I'm off to see the City of Miracles.

>12 Narilka: That one's good, but actually my least favourite of the series, the best being book 2.

I'm still in New York with N.K. Jemisin, and I keep discovering reasons why I don't normally read urban fantasy hehe. But I love her writing so much, I'll continue. The fact that I only know NY from TV and 2 quick visits isn't really helping...

I've been in Cornwall & Buckinghamshire with Merriman Lyon & various children, having started a reread of the Dark is Rising series with Over Sea, Under Stone and The Dark is Rising. Enjoying it as much as before; really top rate YA fantasy with skillful use of myth & folklore.

>14 rshart3: "The Dark is Rising" is perfect December reading! It's one of the books from my childhood that I remember very vividly. I never really felt "Over Sea, Under Stone" measured up, although I enjoyed most of the rest of the series.

I have been (re)reading Connie Willis' A Lot Like Christmas, which wanders back and forth from sci-fi to fantasy, as is typical for her.

>14 rshart3: me too! I read it every December, even though only a part of it is related to Yule holiday celebration.

>15 merrystar: Heh... I did that last Christmas with Dark is Rising, too. :)

Currently reading a bit of a cozy mystery/police procedural investigation in Beggar's Banquet.

I put it off for a long time to avoid being at the end of available story for this series, but I'm going ahead and jumping into The Language of Power.

I have never read any Terry Pratchett, so I decided to see what I was missing and downloaded Guards Guards!

>19 drmamm: I've recently started reading Discworld for the first time, too! I've read three so far. I just finished Reaper Man, and my review is over on my Club Read thread.

Back in Philadelphia with Hetty and Benjy in The Undertakers by Nicole Glover. Post-Civil War goings on with murders and magical artifacts and spies, oh my.

I've been dipping back into the "winterturn" insanity of Jemis Greenwing's life with Plum Duff.

Closing out the year with a visit to Lyonesse.

I've read the first book multiple times, but have never really gone back and revisited the other two books in the series, so I'm picking this up partially as a pure pleasure re-read of the first one, and partly to get the other two into my reading queue, also.
