Young adults/Teenage runaways with bad ending

Hi so I read this book long ago at the beginning we got the main girl perspective she's cuban American and she mentions that she's living in a farm with her dad and talks about the neighbor who's her bf/love interest.They run away together and end up commiting crimes against their will for a bigger criminal and at the end they get caught but put up a fight and the boy gets killed or get hung I don't remember so we got the ending from the girl's perspective in jail.
