Would like recommendations for LEC books that are "good" children's (ages 10-14 or so) books :)
Thanks in advance.

>1 astropi: Well naturally the five Evergreen Tales sets of three books each comes to mind. The Wind in the Willows. Treasure Island. A bunch of the Mark Twain books.

I do not have them all, and I think there are at least two more sets.

Paul Bunyan, Hans Christian Andersen and The Jungle Book all come to mind, too.

Not an LEC book (and I hope I won't be chastised) but I gave my 11 year old granddaughter the Folio Society The Siege and Fall of Troy by Robert Graves. Not presently available from Folio but found a new copy of e-Bay. I'm informed -at the 3000 mile distance that she loved it.

The Graves book is indeed a delight. When I was a kid, I learned my Homer from the movies "Helen of Troy" and the Kirk Douglas "Ulysses" and though they were very entertaining, Graves' retelling is a far more faithful version of the events in the Iliad and Odyssey, and just as entertaining.

>6 laotzu225:-7 is that an appropriate book for someone around 12 or possibly a little younger?

I would like to add 'The Panchatantra'. They have been beautifully translated by Arthur Ryder and LEC did a fantastic job with the design and illustations. I have fond memories of reading those animal stories during childhood.
I found an image of the book on the below website.
