What do you think of the title? Why is it called "Stardust"? Is there a more apt title you can think of?

I think it is very well said, just right. I for one would not change it. Makes me dream of stars... :)

star•dust noun: a magical or charismatic quality or feeling.

Stardust sounds pretty magical, to me, and this book encapsulates that feeling very well. Not to mention, the plot is pretty focused around the star and all those who pursue her in the story. I'm not sure I can think of a better title!

>3 kristilabrie: Agreed. "A Boy's Adventures" or "Walk Beyond the Wall" just fall far short of the many themes in this book (and movie).

I guess it makes me think of the literal dust Yvaine would turn into if she crosses wall, and that leaves me with a pretty negative feeling? I don't think I disliked the title when I first saw the movie (which was before I read the book).

>5 lorannen: Oh, that's a good point about Yvaine turning to dust. Turns the idea of magical stardust into a very ironic and sad theme.

Yes, but she didn't right? A happy ending:)

>6 threadnsong:: Of course, with all the witches wandering around the Stormhold side of the wall, that wasn't a very safe place for fallen stars either!

Stardust makes me think more about magic than a single person - the fallen star. I think of dust - tiny pieces of magic - maybe they fall from stars - that cause creatures to meet at certain times, develop magical powers etc. One thing that didn’t make sense to me was the moon being the mother of the stars. I am too much of a scientist. I can understand how it might make sense poetically.
