Did you ever experience fluttering of your heart? I started to experience this a couple weeks ago. I had an appointment for a physical already on my calendar for today so I did a little googling and found out that I needed to cut back on caffeine and drink more water. You need to drink at least 2 liters or a half a gallon of water a day (at least 64 ounces a day) so you don’t become dehydrated which can cause flutters in your heart. My doctor gave me an ekg today and compared it to one I had in 2012 and there were some abnormal differences. I just made an appointment with a heart care group for April 16th. Just wanted to pass on a warning to make sure you are drinking plenty of water daily.

I need to drink more water and drink less Pepsi max. At home we drink decaffeinated tea and coffee which does reduce our caffeine intake. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and only a blip. 😊

>3 Andrew-theQM: Well, the flutters are gone today as I have been increasing the water so it's just the ekg that is troubling.

My mother's cardiologist told her several years ago that caffeine was one of the biggest killers around. She has a pacemaker and gets along fine but she doesn't drink much of anything. I do wish she would drink more water. Good luck. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you:)

I got a Keurig a couple years ago and that helped me cut way down on caffeine. I think I felt like I had an obligation to drink the whole pot if I made it.
Hope you have a good checkup >2 EadieB:

>2 EadieB: gee, Eadie, heart fluttering sounds a little scary. I hope the abnormalities on the scans will improve by the next test.
I cut back on caffeine for a similar reason - too much of it throws off my blood pressure. Now I am trying to cut back on sodium as well, but that is proving to be more difficult as it is in just about every food.

Let us all know how it goes on the 16th, Eadie. :)

Hope all goes well with your follow-up.
I had heart palpitations years ago and had to cut back on my caffeine — once I did that, all got back to normal

I went to the heart doctor this afternoon and I am now wearing a 24 hour Holter heart monitor which I have to keep on until 3:00 PM tomorrow when I have to return it to the doctor's office.
Next Monday, April 23rd I will have a Nuclear Stress Test which is a 4 hour test that I will begin at 7:40 am. First I will have an intravenous line and a nuclear technologist will inject the Sestamibi/Cardiolite. This medicine attaches to the red blood cells, tracing the blood flow to the heart muscle.
Then I will have to wait 1 hour while the medicine circulates through my body (that's where a book to read comes in). Then I will have my first nuclear scan which lasts 20 minutes.
Next they will place electrodes on my chest to monitor my heart rate and rhythm while I exercise on the treadmill which the grade and/or speed will increase every 2 to 3 minutes.
Then they inject the Sestamibi/Cardiolite again and wait another hour (book reading time) before the next 15 minute scan. Then the test is over.
Then on Monday, April 30th I will have another visit with the doctor and she will give me the results.

>12 EadieB: Best Of luck!

>13 Andrew-theQM: Thanks! The doctor said that I can have as much caffeine as I want because it has nothing to do with arterial fibrillation which she is testing me for.

It sounds like a very thorough examination. As you say, Eadie, best to find out where you stand. Best wishes.

Happy Birthday, Carol!! Hope you have some cake that looks as good as the one >24 Olivermagnus: gave you!

Thank you one and all. >27 gaylebutz: I did have a beautiful cake...lemon. I love anything remotely lemon:) Our 5 year old great granddaughter and our daughter came from Arizona as a surprise. My husband knew they were coming but never uttered a word. Lucinda(the 5 year old) was disappointed that she couldn't make a snowman. I was grateful that she couldn't make a snowman. They're going home tomorrow to warm, dry Arizona.
