What do folks think about a thread for people who can offer to be a mentor/mentee for the platform with which they’re most familiar, and buddy up with someone who is the opposite? Those of us who are familiar with both can say so, and maybe have capacity to buddy up with more than one new user to either platform?
For example: LittenNewOnLT posts, “Litten since 2016, joined LibraryThing today. Not really interested in forums, but would like to know how to make the best use of tags vs collections.”
LTCollectionsAreEverything replies, “I beta tested Collections and really love the ways LT has given us flexibility in how we sort and filter, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to follow the photo challenges on Litsy and I’d really like to participate. Wanna buddy up?”

This is a great idea which will probably get more support on Litsy if you posted it there. What do you think?

Happy to answer any LT-related questions folks have, either here or in a profile comment (which I get by email, too).

I'm here to answer any LT questions that people have as well. I don't know everything about the site, but, I most definitely know serieses. And... if you're trying to get data from Amazon (I know, gasp, perish the thought), I have some experience with the combine and separate stuff that has to go one when you're using Amazon as a source.

Maybe you can help me then... some of my books that I imported in from Goodreads, came over with the Title correct, but the author replaced with the audiobook’s narrator. I tried just changing the author’s name and saving the file, but it still isn’t pulling from the correct place to say pick a cover. Is there anyway to transfer my info, rating, tags, review, etc to the correct book info? Or do I need to add the right book and transfer all the stuff manually, and then delete the error book.

>2 AceOnRoam: I’ll definitely cross-post it when I have time to engage at the level it might require (I’m on vacation until Tuesday), but I think having a static location on a full browser makes it easier to scan convos that a lot of folks want in on. I know some of the swappers really want Litsy web pages for that very reason (and I do too — replying to dozens on comments on my phone every day is taking a toll on my wrists! 😝)

Agree, I only meant to mention it over on Litsy but continue the conversation here. Sorry I wasn't very clear. Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

>5 RivetedReaderMelissa:
It sounds like the books need to be combined into the main work page. On LT, with some caveats, all equivalent versions of any book should sit under the main 'work' (kind of an umbrella listing for any copy). Sometimes things get 'orphaned', especially in this kind of scenario and they need to be manually combined so that the data is there.
I'm accessing by phone right now so I can't check easily but we have a group called 'Combiners!' (http://www.librarything.com/groups/combiners) and people are happy to help do this for you over there.
Welcome to LT.

>7 AceOnRoam: Not at all, I was in “skim and quick-reply” mode and might have read it differently in context otherwise :) I’ve yet to crack my laptop open since Thursday which has been lovely, but also has its drawbacks 😁
