I am @Andrew65 on Litsy.

Redigeret: mar 20, 2018, 9:22pm

I’m a newbie Litten and a veteran Librarythingamabrarian. :) I’m SqueakyChu on both sites.

Redigeret: apr 9, 2018, 12:45pm

I’m an LT-oldie and a Litsy-newbie and called Swe_Eva on Litsy (it didn’t like my LT name over there, so compromising....).

mar 20, 2018, 9:29pm

>4 SqueakyChu: Hello SqueakyChu, I hope you enjoy Litsy. 😊 We are happy to Welcome you. 👋

>5 -Eva-: Hello Eva and welcomecto Litsy 😊, welcome to the Group too. 👋

mar 20, 2018, 9:32pm

Hello! I’m BarbaraTheBibliophage on Litsy and just TheBibliophage on LT. I’m glad for a snow day (gah! Did I really say that!) so I can explore LibraryThing.

mar 20, 2018, 9:37pm

I'm @RestlessFickleBookHoarder on Litsy. It's actually a group sourced handle inspired by many Litten comments on one of my early posts.

mar 20, 2018, 9:38pm

Hello! I’m Librarybelle on Litsy as well. 😊

mar 20, 2018, 9:38pm

I'm rubyslippersreads on both sites!

mar 20, 2018, 9:40pm

I'm "Tanya-dogearedcopy" here and "dogearedcopy" on Litsy :-)

mar 20, 2018, 9:46pm

Hi! I’m misBklover here and Bklover on Litsy.

mar 20, 2018, 10:41pm

Redigeret: mar 20, 2018, 10:42pm

>8 TheBibliophage: If you have any questions about LT, I’ll be glad to try to answer them for you or anyone else.

mar 20, 2018, 10:54pm

me! ErinSueG! I am super active.

mar 20, 2018, 11:07pm

I am @ ShadrachAnki on Litsy. I joined back in December 2016, but basically did nothing with my account until I saw the LibraryThing announcement in my email.... LibraryThing has been my primary bookish home on the internet for 12 years at this point, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be my only home!

mar 20, 2018, 11:15pm

I'm SuziQoregon on both. I've been randomly active and inactive for a while on Litsy. (Last post before today was 10 months ago) Maybe this will be what helps me make it a habit.

mar 20, 2018, 11:29pm

I'm not on Litsy yet, but I'll probably take a look. Andrew and Melissa, I know you both from shelfari, originally, so I'll see if I can find you both once I'm there. :-)

mar 21, 2018, 2:11am

I'm rwmg on Litsy

mar 21, 2018, 2:24am

Hi, I'm batsy on Litsy.

mar 21, 2018, 3:47am

I'm divinenanny on both.

mar 21, 2018, 12:21pm

I just joined Library Thing last night. I'm jfalkens on both 😊

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 12:30pm

>23 jfalkens: Welcome to LT! If you (or others) have any questions, I’ll be happy to try to answer them. LT is HUGE and can be overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to explore! ...and don’t forget to sign up for Early Reviewers!

mar 21, 2018, 12:35pm

I'm LauraBeth on Litsy

mar 21, 2018, 12:39pm

I just joined with the same username. Never the most active poster on any social media things I've joined but I'd love to read others' posts.

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 12:53pm

I'm @ amie on Litsy.

mar 21, 2018, 1:54pm

Hi everyone! I'm SharonGoforth on Litsy and LT. I've been on LT for years, but haven't used it much lately other than to keep track of what I'm reading. Hoping this will motivate me to be more active here :)

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 2:05pm

I've just joined, and managed to grab the same username 'tid'. 😊

(Oops, just noticed it's tid instead of Tid but no big deal!)

mar 21, 2018, 2:06pm

I'm GinEyre22 here and on Litsy !

mar 21, 2018, 2:37pm

Hello, long time LTer, just downloaded Litsy. I'm 'frombellatoylva' on Litsy. Not sure how much I'll use it, we'll see. Looks interesting so far though.

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 3:04pm

Welcome everyone, great to see you all here. Many of you I know but think here are one or two of you I haven’t met on Litsy. How have we not met! Don’t be surprised if a follow request arrives to those people. 😊
As it stands we have already made this group the 21st most active group this week! 👏

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 3:06pm

>19 LibraryCin: We do go back a long way now Cindy, i still miss those Shelfari days, but have now found another great community in Litsy.

mar 21, 2018, 3:38pm

Just signed up on LibraryThing. I am the same--DebinHawaii here (and on Twitter and Instagram). Looking forward to learning more about LT.

mar 21, 2018, 3:46pm

I joined up on Litsy yesterday but I'm not hot on (so-called) smartphones so may well cancel soon. The site seems very difficult to navigate — for example to see TBR, reading, read.

mar 21, 2018, 3:59pm

>35 PossMan: You do quickly pick up the navigation as you use the site. I use Litsy on the iPad, not my phone.

mar 21, 2018, 4:06pm

I've had Litsy for a while now but haven't started actively using it until recently. weeziesbooks is my handle!

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 4:25pm

Suggestions for LT newbies:

After you join, catalog at least a few books with reviews that you wrote of those books. Doing this will enable you to participate right away in Early Reviewers.

Look at the groups and start out with just one in an area of high interest for you. Too many groups become overwhelming. Be sure that it is an active group. Post some messages rather than lurk. Do NOT be afraid to post messages on threads started by other LTers. That’s how we get to know one another.

Pick one book challenge and do it! Communicate with others frequently as to how you’re coming along with your book challenge.

Let me know if these suggestions help you newbies feel more comfortable on LT. :)

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 4:36pm

>38 SqueakyChu: Those are great suggestions, thank you! The groups confuse me a bit, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Is there a particular challenge that you recommend as a good one?

mar 21, 2018, 4:44pm

>31 DanieXJ: I just became your first Litsy follower! Even if you're just dabbling, it might be fun to peruse some users' feeds and post a photo of your current read. I've found some wonderful readers and friends via Litsy—it's an excellent platform for buddy reads and discussion.

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 5:10pm

>40 saresmoore: >31 DanieXJ: And I just became number 2! 😊

Redigeret: apr 13, 2018, 8:56am

>39 saresmoore: It all depends on what you like to do. If you’ve done any challenges on Litsy before, try one of those on LT. I’ve done the 50 Books, 75 Books, ROOTS, and Categories Challenges in the past as well as some smaller challenges. I’m now only on the 75 Books Challenge because I couldn’t do so many challenges at once.

When you’re comfortable on LT, you might try the TIOLI challenge of which I’m the hostess. I like it the best, but it’s probably the most complicated! TIOLI stands for Take It or Leave It.

What do you find most confusing about groups?

mar 21, 2018, 5:50pm

>42 Andrew-theQM: Cool challenges! I never knew they existed! :)

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 6:20pm

>44 SqueakyChu: That’s the thing, there is so much on here, you almost feel as if you only scratch the surface. I’d not heard of the Tioli Challenge. 😊

Redigeret: mar 21, 2018, 6:37pm

>45 Andrew-theQM: There is a reason for that. I have pretty much kept it hidden because I manually code the challenges on the wiki and I didn’t want it to get too large for me to handle. I rarely advertise it at all. It is not a group per se so people generally have to ask what or where it is and don’t usually stumble upon it by accident. It’s actually hidden within the 75 Books challenge.

mar 21, 2018, 7:00pm

>40 saresmoore: >41 Andrew-theQM: Ooh, cool. I followed back. I'm slowly dipping in my toe.

mar 21, 2018, 7:34pm

I made a Litsy account last year but requested to have it deleted for personal reasons. Now im trying to figure out if i can restore my old account as i can't make a new account with my previously used email.

mar 21, 2018, 7:45pm

>48 LadyBookHermit: Fingers crossed they can sort that out for you.

mar 21, 2018, 8:52pm

>23 jfalkens: Welcome! Hope you enjoy LT!

mar 21, 2018, 8:55pm

>39 saresmoore: I'd like to recommend the 2018 Category Challenge group

There are lots of different challenges to choose from, so you can pick!

mar 21, 2018, 9:52pm

I am AWahle on both. I haven't really used the social and review side over here - I've mostly started cataloging my books and DVDs.

BookCrawler is great, but some of the errors in user added titles drives me crazy. I haven't gotten very far in cataloging on Library Thing because most of my books are in 30+ banker's boxes in the crawl space, basement, etc.

mar 21, 2018, 10:18pm

Booknerd2 on both. I've been on Litsy over a year and love it. I just joined LibraryThing tonight.

mar 21, 2018, 11:36pm

I think most of y'all have already found me—I've been happy to see quite a few familiar usernames in these last couple days! I'm "lorannen" pretty much everywhere, including here and on Litsy.

mar 22, 2018, 12:29am

I’m kgriffith on both now, but previously glitterfemme, glitterfem, or aglaia531, depending on where you know me from and from how long ago ;)
I’ve been on LibraryThing since late 2007 and Litsy since early 2016, so if we wanna get mathematical about it, roughly equivalent percentages of the time each platform has existed 🤓 Which is to say, I’ve done beta testing and bug squashing, had slumps, logged in every day, etc. In the end, though, these are the two bookish places on the web I always come back to.

mar 22, 2018, 12:30am

>43 SqueakyChu: Re: TIOLI: Love the idea, and do not have the capacity for it, which makes me so sad! I tried a couple years ago and lasted about 72 seconds before I was like, oh, uh, this is for grownups who know how to manage... life. 🤣

>29 Tid: Psst, try going into your profile to edit and replace tid with Tid. It should work.

mar 22, 2018, 7:24am

I'm @taraWritesSci on both platforms 😊

mar 22, 2018, 7:25am

Been on Litsy for two months now and just joined LibraryThing this morning! I'm ShookBelf on both!

mar 22, 2018, 10:30am

I'm Vinjii on both serives. I joined LT this week, after finding out about it. I was always on Goodreads, never realised this amazing service is available!

Redigeret: mar 22, 2018, 11:04am

Chelleo on Litsy. I've been on LT for 10+ years but really started digging in recently as I work through my collection of books (versus my reading tracking that I do on GR).

mar 22, 2018, 11:12am

All right guys. I said I wasn't going to do this, but I have done it! FantasyChick on Litsy. I had one of these LT accounts a while back but started a fresh one today so let's see how it goes :)

mar 22, 2018, 12:50pm

>57 kgriffith:

Seems to have worked! Thanks.

mar 22, 2018, 1:41pm

Ubookquitous on Litsy - just joined up again here. Had an account years ago, but didn't do anything with it.

mar 22, 2018, 5:37pm

Welcome to the group everyone. 👏👍😊

Redigeret: maj 12, 2019, 1:45am

Hi all! I've been on LT for 2+ years and opened a Litsy account in 2017 but didn't use it much due to needing to use an Android app. Recently, I was able to log in but I think it is more my device that is the issue, rather than the app. Maybe if there is ever a web based version I will try it out again.

To new LT members from Litsy- welcome!

mar 22, 2018, 9:11pm

Hi, all! I'm sprainedbrain on Litsy (I've been addicted for 2 years now), but brand new to LT. Attempting to import my GR books now. I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing... I can't even get a photo to be the right direction?!?

mar 22, 2018, 10:04pm

I’m casvelyn on Litsy too. I tend to forget to post over there, so if my Litsy profile is to be believed, I’ve been reading the same books since September. (Actually, I have been reading one book in particular since September. I’m now on page 28.)

mar 22, 2018, 11:07pm

>59 ShookBelf: LOL! Love the name! :-)

mar 22, 2018, 11:08pm

>66 This-n-That: I'm giving Litsy a try, but I would definitely prefer an web-based option!

mar 23, 2018, 4:23am

Agreed with those wanting a web version. Various aspects of it sound interesting and I'd like to try it out, but I am not part of the modern trend of people forever glued to their phones; I don't do apps, I do websites, on my computer, where there is a real keyboard and a proper screen, while my phone is off over there somewhere, probably needing charging.

mar 23, 2018, 6:11am

>67 sprainedbrain:

Yeah, posting images and photos on LT is the devil's own job. The help pages aren't much use either unless you happen to chance upon the one that explains it, which isn't the page you were looking for to help you with it.

mar 23, 2018, 6:13am

>71 .Monkey.:

Up until I got my iPad I would have agreed with you 100%. But Litsy seems like one of those things you can do when out and about, e.g. while waiting in a restaurant for someone to come and take your order, or waiting for your food to arrive.

mar 23, 2018, 7:45am

I'm a fairly long-term LT member and have just joined Litsy, using the same name. I'm going to have to sit down and work my way through the Litsy tips and instructions before I can really take part in Litsy, though.

mar 23, 2018, 8:56am

>71 .Monkey.: After having used Litsy for a few days, I’d rather not see a web version of it. It would loose its Twitter-like spontaneity and abbreviated form. What I would love to see would be an LT wiki which could be a permanent index to Litsy. We’re talking about this on another thread. Thank you to Sace who volunteered to learn to do this! Thanks to kgriffith for that idea.

Redigeret: mar 23, 2018, 10:18am

>73 Tid: Lol. That would mean paying for data. Which I do not do. Nor am I connected to my phone out of the house. Nor do I eat out save when someone from out of town is visiting. XD

>75 SqueakyChu: Twitter is not phone-only either so I don't really understand what you're getting at. It wouldn't somehow suddenly change and lose all it's limited-character restrictions. It would simply be accessible to those who don't live on their phones.

mar 23, 2018, 2:17pm

I'm MeganAnn on Litsy (since mid-2016) and have just joined LT today. I've imported my goodreads list and am exploring a little.

mar 23, 2018, 3:43pm

>70 LibraryCin:; >71 .Monkey.:: I'm with you in wanting a web=based page. Almost all my interactions with sites is from my home and not walking down the high street or buying groceries. I did follow one persons blog about using litsy but it seemed as if the main purpose was to gather as many followers as possible — a figure of 400 was mentioned! Gosh even Jesus seems to have been happy with 12 but if the New Testament is to be believed they were real people not cyberfriends. I'm obviously a dinosaur.

mar 23, 2018, 4:45pm

I use my iPad to acccess Litsy, and only access it at home. I use my iPad these days for internet access. Litsy works great on the iPad and you get alerts when messages come through.

mar 23, 2018, 5:46pm

RiveterReaderMelissa here Riveted_Reader_Melissa on Litsy

So far I've managed to import all my books from Goodreads, but it looks like I need to seriously clean up my list based on what's actually in my library (that I actually own), versus just books I've read or want to read from all sources (which is basically what I used Goodreads as... a huge to-read and have read ongoing list.

mar 23, 2018, 9:18pm

>75 SqueakyChu: I think the web version will be used primarily by folks who don’t have or use smartphones, who can’t use their smartphones during parts of their days (maybe when they shouldn’t be on Litsy anyway but who are we to judge 😉), and — and this is my big reason — for admin purposes. I had 81 notifications when I landed at LAX this afternoon, and thankfully only a half dozen or so were tagging me to ask questions about LibraryThing, but it would make a huge difference for me to be able to type on a full keyboard when in work mode on Litsy.

Redigeret: mar 23, 2018, 9:38pm

>81 kgriffith: Yikes! I see your point. That's like having a business meeting on Twitter! ;) Should we notify Sace to hold off on learning the wiki then?

Redigeret: mar 23, 2018, 9:42pm

>82 SqueakyChu: I think the wiki is still a good idea! I don’t know what kinds of pages will be built on, but I believe first order of business is profiles and posts. We can always move or link the wiki so it wouldn’t be reinventing the wheel at a later date.

Redigeret: mar 23, 2018, 10:01pm

>83 kgriffith: Okay. That might be nice in the interim as well.

mar 23, 2018, 10:33pm

I'm on Litsy! Same username:)

mar 24, 2018, 5:34am

>81 kgriffith: I can use the keyboard on my Android tablet (a Pixel C) for Litsy - provided I use split-screen mode so the portrait-only Litsy App is readable on the landscape screen.

mar 24, 2018, 6:40am

>81 kgriffith: It would be good if the App could be viewed in landscape and portrait but don’t know if that is possible. If I did i’d be a millionaire by creating my own App!

mar 24, 2018, 11:41am

>76 .Monkey.: Not so! Most places I go to have their own wifi hotspots I can connect to, so there's no data payment at all.

mar 24, 2018, 1:57pm

omg! I'm on my PC, looking at the f/b group. Thought I might add some of the people who have posted there.

As I look at my tablet screen on the desk in front of me, I'm moving my mouse, thinking it will do something!!!! LOL and sigh....

mar 24, 2018, 2:46pm

leahbird here and there!

mar 24, 2018, 2:54pm

Welcome Leahbird, just sent you a follow request on Litsy, then saw this. 😊

mar 24, 2018, 3:17pm

I'm Anglemark on Litsy. I'm still trying to figure out whether it's for me. I'm not convinced yet, but I want to like it.

mar 24, 2018, 4:00pm

I'm Jess7 on litsy and thegreeneyedreader on here and most of my other bookish social media. I am finding Library Thing to be very difficult to use. It's not very intuitive and it's going to take me awhile to get used to it.

mar 24, 2018, 4:01pm

>88 Tid: Maybe where you are, certainly not here.

mar 24, 2018, 4:23pm

>93 thegreeneyedreader: feel free to ask anything you need help on!

Redigeret: mar 24, 2018, 9:22pm

>93 thegreeneyedreader: Don't get discouraged. Know ahead of time that LibraryThing is HUGE. Start by picking one thing that you'd like to do and get involved in doing that first. Then move on to another area whenever you are ready.

I would suggest to right away add a few books with reviews. This will enable you to join in the Early Reviewers program which is so worthwhile! I would also pick just one group, start your own thread there and visit just a few other threads in the same group, joining in those conversations. Those thread host LTers generally will then come to visit your thread.

mar 24, 2018, 10:24pm

>92 anglemark: Have to admit I'm feeling the same! I'm trying!!!

mar 25, 2018, 1:40pm

>94 .Monkey.:

Redigeret: mar 25, 2018, 2:22pm

Just as an assist to any Littens that may not know: by clicking on a user name, you can view that user's profile. You can find out all kinds of nifty bookish information (examples: what books you share with the user, what books you should 'borrow' from the user), also what LT groups they belong to, and quite often, their location.

I'm JoTokla at Litsy!

mar 25, 2018, 5:16pm

Haaaaallo fellow Littens! I've had LT thing pretty much always but haven't ever really used it. Now with this merger, I am taking a re-visit of its features and what it has to offer me. Nice ta see everyone. :)

(Same name for both sites)

Redigeret: mar 26, 2018, 3:10pm

After giving it a try and much thought, I am not going to use the app for the long-term but wish the Littens well. Happy reading!

Redigeret: mar 26, 2018, 7:44am

Hi, I am ardachy on Litsy having joined in the last few days. Andrew-theQM, sprainedbrain and SqueakyChu I am already following. I am also ardachy on since 2006 which is my main book home. I joined LibraryThing in 2013 but tend to come here for a while and then overlook it for a period. It will be interesting to see how I get on with Litsy.

mar 26, 2018, 8:15am

>102 ardachy: Hi Ardachy, i’m Not aware of Most of my time is spent on Litsy, but it took me a little while to get into it. Now it has it’shook in and I do love it.

mar 31, 2018, 12:12am

Ive been on Litsy almost since its inception where I’m @texreader. I’ve been on LT since fellow Littens recommended it a few months ago.

mar 31, 2018, 12:13am

I’m glad you’re here. Your long reviews here are terrific.

mar 31, 2018, 12:15am

apr 3, 2018, 9:46am

I decided to join LibraryThing but not sure I'll be using it all that much. We shall see!

apr 3, 2018, 11:00am

I've been away from Litsy for a while (just really busy with work and family) but am hoping to participate in Dewey's Readthon there tomorrow. I find Litsy is terrific for that kind of event. Will anyone else be doing Dewey's Readathon tomorrow? BTW, I'm kwmg40 there.

>134 gilroy: I don't think you have to be especially speedy. :) Actually, I spend some of my hours listening to audiobooks while I do the household chores, and those hours count too.

I've been on Litsy for about 8 or 9 months now as MaGoose. Just joined this group on LibraryThing.
