The novelist George MacDonald Fraser, author of the Flashman adventure stories, has died aged 82, his publisher has said.

I was so sad when I saw the news pop up late last night. I'm currently reading Quartered Safe Out Here which I just got for Christmas ... and I have Flash for Freedom in my TBR pile.

And so GMF is one of the 1100 people today who died from cancer. Time to do some re-reading.

R.I.P. and Godspeed Mr. Frasier. You're now, and probably always will be the biggest font in my "Author Cloud". Truly a sad day, I really wanted to read of Flashy's exploits in our "War Between the States".

Even more amazingly he had one of the writing credits on the film Red Sonja.
