Have yet to read Hunters of Dune and was wondering if anyone feels that the book is at least a decent sequel to Chapterhouse, or is it of the same so-so writing that we've suffered through with the prequels?

i read hunters and enjoyed it but i read for enjoyment and i don't have a critic's eye and i thought it filled in the blank's nicely. and i am looking forward to the next book in the series.that being said if you have any dout on if you would reread it or if you would enjoy it. i would recomend the following choice's (A)= go to your lococal library and check it out for free. (B)=watch your lococal thrift stores. (C)watch for yard sales. may the blessing of Muad'Dib be with you.

Hunters of Dune is a sequel to the prequels, not to Chapterhouse Dune. I have enjoyed the prequels, insofar as they are more "fan fiction" than canonical Dune, but I had hoped B. Herbert and Anderson would finally step up to Frank Herbert's level of storytelling in continuing his original series. I was sorely disappointed. I re-read God Emperor through Chapterhouse to help me remember all the various aspects of the Scattering, but it was pointless. Herbert the Lesser and Anderson ignore much of the storyline and shoehorn in their own subplots. Sadly, I'll still probably get the next book, but that's just a sign of my madness.

or abebooks, or ebay, or the second hand bookshop :)

From the Dragon page podcast I found something interesting, Anderson had written 650K words by July, so 6 or so standard books in 7 months this year. At that speed, nothing is going to get too fancy, but he will get paid and pump out more Dune books presumably.

oh, i have the book. it's just a matter of should i care to read it. i've also not read the last of the pre-prequels, nor road to dune. BH and KJA, i've found, really uninspire my reading habits.

I really enjoyed Hunters of Dune, but I enjoy all things Dune. The world is interesting and I'm not a purist.
