Ive got a potential opportunity to travel to Kenya in a few months. I know very little about the country, its history, or its culture - but I'd like to learn a bit. Much like skf in the South America thread, I'm looking for something about the people and the culture, not just wars, politics, and dates (though I don't want to outrule those either). Overall, I'd like something that goes for accuracy but isn't necessarily academic. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I can't think of anything off hand but there are travel books on Kenya that you could try.

Unbowed, a memoir by Wangari Matthai covers a great deal of the recent history of Kenya. Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi wa Thiong'o, is a satire about the fictional African country of Aburiria, presumably based on Kenya since the author is a Kenyan.
