Hello! I'm looking for decent medieval fantasy, requirements being:
1. It can't be black and white (in other words, the good guys are seriously flawed and/or have bad guy qualities and the bad guys aren't totally evil overlords bent on taking over the world simply because they want power. And they have some good guy qualities. Or maybe even a book with no good guys and bad guys)
2. The characters must be realistic.
3. The cover can't look like a fantasy-fied soap opera
4. It must be an adult book.

Thanks a bunch,
-FeegleFan

Have you tried the A Song of Ice and Fire series? It has all the attributes you're looking for. The first book is A Game of Thrones.

I send that recommendation. The A Song of Ice and Fire series is my absolute story.

I'd also recommend Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay.

I'd recommend The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell - I was really impressed by it and it certainly meets your first two criteria. It's not medieval - but I think you'll like it. (If it has to be medieval, you might try Cornwell's The Archer's Tale - I haven't read it, but I'm sure it's good).

What about the The Thomas Covenant Chronicles by Stephen R. Donaldson
