I have never read A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M Miller. I was too young when it was published in 1960 and by the time I would have been interested I wasn't aware of its existence.
Now I want to propose it as a Book Club read for my group. Do you think it is a suitable choice that will engender lots of discussion?

>1 pollux: I have read it twice and I really like it. However, I think it is a polarizing, love it or hate it kind of book. Some members of your book club may not be able to get through it. There are some slow-moving parts.
I think, if they are up for it, there is a lot of fodder for discussion in it. Is it humankind's nature to destroy itself? Miller incorporates religion, philosophy, nature, preservation of culture, history, science... a very interesting book.
