Not strictly a LibraryThing subject, but perhaps of interest to folks following this group. Yesterday in a New York Times article, James Bradley, author of Flags Of Our Fathers, confirmed that he now doubts that his father was a member of the six servicemen captured in the famous photo by Joe Rosenthal raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi. He was first made aware of the issue via an article published by the Omaha World-Herald two years ago. The story of the original investigation is very interesting and shows how even this many decades later, we still have much to learn.
