I somehow ended up with two seperate librarything accounts. I'm sure I had a good reason once-upon-a-time for creating the second account but I ended up forgetting entirely that the first one existed!
http://www.librarything.com/profile/mistyrae82 is my first account
http://www.librarything.com/profile/Mozzie is my second account
Each account has some things which I would like to see in the merged account: my older librarything anniversary, books which are in one account but not the other, friends lists, groups, etc.
Is there an easy way to merge them or do I have to do everything manually?
Thanks for your time!

lorannen may be able to help, you can pm her directly or wait for her to see this.
If you do end up having to do it manually, I sugest moving everything to the account with the important things you can't duplicate anymore; LTaniversay, badges. Everything else is replicable I think.

I would like to point out that this is the last weekend before Christmas. Besides the things all of us are busy doing, Lorannen also has more SantaThing to do. I'm quite sure she will be able to help, but probably not this week.

I'm in the same conundrum. No answer about how to merge accounts? Is there a help desk at thelibrarything? Thanks!!

No, there is no way to merge accounts. Your best approach is to choose the one you want to retain - the older, the larger, whichever, export the books from the other catalog, re-import them (which will lose a LOT of data, but is probably still faster than individually adding every book), and edit so that they match. Having two browsers open with one logged into each account will make the editing process faster. Anything else like friends/interesting libraries and group membership will only take a few minutes.
LT isn't very good at all about re-importation of their own export data. I used to complain about this a lot, but I've resigned myself to the fact that they really just don't care.

That answers my question! I'm going the opposite way - splitting my one account into two and was wondering if there was any way to do it other than bulk export/import and then deleting duplicates, but it appears not so I will export and delete away!

>6 JeanLittleLibrary: You can put a tag on the ones you want to export, or put them all in one collection. The export function allows you to limit the data to tags and/or collections.

>6 JeanLittleLibrary: You can certainly selectively export data but remember that the only fields that can be imported are those listed in the import function. The other data will have to be reentered manually.

Ok, I am apparently doing something wrong? I exported a couple collections, imported them via universal import and... nothing? If I'm reading the FAQ correctly they should show up in the lookup queue but it's been saying 0 isbns for several days now...

I was trying to do something similar! I wanted to make a LibraryThing for my daughter's books to be able to catalog them separately, as right now they are just a collection under my library. I exported them all but when I try to upload the LibraryThing export it tells me there are no books found in the file. This seems... unfortunate? lorannen, is there anything that can be done?

You cannot import the LT export. Ridiculous, I know, but I've been asking for years with no traction. What you can do is strip out all the fields except those in the laughably-named "universal import" sample CSV, in exactly the same order with the same field names, and import those - it will at least get you part of the way there, but you'll need to individually edit every title if there are fields like comments that matter to you that aren't in the import, or if you want the title and so forth differently from what comes in for the ISBN for your chosen source.
