I am only looking for a publisher that publishes English language books or English edition of books.
The Folio Society? The Easton Press? The Arion Press? The Old Stile Press?
Or is there not such thing as the best (fine press) publisher, and they each have their own unique features -- it's all depended on what book I want?
I want to buy a fine pressed, limited edition book for a friend as a present so I want to know: which one should I go for?

>I think you already answered your own question. It depends on what you are looking for and what particular book as fine presses tend to have small outputs both in terms of different books and copies of any given book.

The EP is not a fine press though they do sell limited editions. The FS sell very few fine press items (e.g the Letterpress Shakespeare and Rupert Brooke poems). Fine press editions are almost always hand bound, letterpress works with limited runs (usually around 50-500 copies but occasionally more). They are often signed (by author, illustrator, or designer) and may use commissioned artwork. There are many small fine presses still in business today such as the Arion Press. There are also defunct presses that still are selling new copies from inventory (e.g. Shiff era LECs and The Yolla Bolly Press).

Okay, then, let me rephrase the topic: please recommend some fine press publishers. I haven't decided the book I want to buy, so maybe doing some browsing would help.

>3 garrettofBabel: Are you looking for new or used books? You can get a feel for some of the currently producing fine presses by checking out the 2015 exhibitor list at codexfoundation.org. For used fine press check out The Limited Editions Club, Imprint Society, Allen Press, Yolla Bolly Press on Abe.

New books. Currently-produced fine pressed books will be just fine.

Thanks! You've been most helpful!

Depends on what you want to spend. Also, what breadth in titles you are expecting to find. Frankly, when the FS does letterpress they do it right. I highly recommend them.
