I'll be listing the books I've read in 2015, probably on a monthly basis. I'm hoping to reach a round 100 books read!

January Reads

1 Blowin' in the Wind - Bob Dylan & Jon J Muth
Somewhere there's an old Bob Dylan fan who thought the lyrics were really 'deep, man' and would make a 'great message for the kids'. The result is this children's book that's actually for adults.

2 Family Matters : Laughter and Wisdom From the Home Front - Pat McDermott
A collection of columns written over the years by this Australian Women's Weekly columnist.

3 Sumo Mouse - David Wisniewski
A strange children's book about, well, a sumo mouse.

4 To the Baltic With Bob - Griff Rhys Jones
A sailing trip from London to St Petersburg and back to Copenhagen in stages over the course of a year. Oh, to have the time (and the money!).

5 Not My Father's Son - Alan Cumming
A biography in which the actor alternates stories from his childhood with his experiences having his family history researched for the "Who Do You Think You Are?" TV series.

6 Paul Meets Bernadette - Rosy Lamb
A children's story about goldfish.

7 Bedside Lovers (And Other Goats) - Joe Bennett
A collection of newspaper columns.

8 Everything I Need to Know About Love I Learned From a Little Golden Book - Diane Muldrow
The text is really nothing special but it must have been fun (and nostalgic) finding the images!

Children's book.

24 Full English - Tom Parker-Bowles
A food lover/snob's assessment of English food by Prince Charles' step-son.

A fun children's book in the Dr Seuss series.

29 How Did All This Happen? - John Bishop
An autobiography of a (now) very successful English comedian. I remember seeing him several years ago before he became famous!

30 Terry Deary's Terribly True War Stories - Terry Deary
A children's book of war stories. While war stories may have been popular in the past (eg Biggles in the 50s and 60s), I don't know any children who are interested in war stories nowadays.

31 First Day - Andrew Daddo & Jonathan Bentley
A children's book about the first day at school.

32 Old Father Christmas - Berlie Doherty & Maria Terese Meloni
A children's Christmas book.

Someone's attempting to jump on the "children's book for adults" bandwagon that "Go the F**k to Sleep" created.

Part of a trilogy about life living and working in a National Trust stately home.

35 My Mother Was a Bag Lady - Josiane Behmoiras
Biography of a childhood with an erratic and mentally ill mother.

37 Fathomless Riches - Richard Coles
Memoir of an ex-pop-star-turned-vicar.

38 The Almond Blossom Appreciation Society - Chris Stewart
The third book in the trilogy about life in the Alpujarra region of Spain.

Memoir of a childhood in Scotland. Quite an eye-catching title!

40 Thinking About It Only Makes It Worse - David Mitchell
A collection of newspaper columns and short pieces of writing.

41 Rules of Summer - Shaun Tan
Essentially a picture book with minimal text. However, I'm not entirely convinced it's a children's book!

42 The Best Easter Egg Hunt Ever - Dawn Casey
A delightful children's book.

43 The Last Days of the Bus Club - Chris Stewart
The fourth book in the trilogy (Yes, the fourth!).

June Reads

44 So You've Been Publicly Shamed - Jon Ronson
Interesting premise for a book. The author interviews people who have suffered some pretty public shame.

45 Gus & Me - Keith Richards
A children's book written by Keith Richards? Get outta here!

46 The Art of Asking - Amanda Palmer
A journey into the psyche of Amanda Palmer. I get the feeling the book could have benefitted from a bit more editing.

47 Making the Cut - Mohamed Khadra
A biography of a surgeon. It's a bit strange to read the biography of somebody I've actually met.

48 Him & Me - Jake & Michael Whitehall
A father and son "double biography" of family life.

49 The Troublesome Tooth Fairy - Sandi Toksvig
A delightful children's book.

50 Poster Girl - Beccy Cole
A biography of an Australian country singer. I never realised that Beccy Cole isn't actually her real name.

51 Vanished Years - Rupert Everett
The second volume of this actor's biography. I get the feeling that I probably wouldn't get along with him if I met him in real life.

52 Paris Letters - Janice Macleod
A woman travels to Paris and finds love within a few days. How convenient! Cynical? Who, me? Lovely illustrated letters, though.

53 We Are Here - Cat Thao Nguyen
A biography of a refugee to Australia. Many mentions of places familiar to me makes for interesting reading.

I enjoyed the two parts of this book. I never realised that Roald Dahl had been a fighter pilot in WWII. It seems a wonder he survived with such minimal training!

130 Having Our Say - Sarah & A. Elizabeth Delaney with Amy Hill Hearth

131 Boy George and Culture Club - Richard Rosenfeld (Editor)
A blast from the past! It goes to show just how quickly Culture Club became successful - this book was published when they'd released just six singles!

132 Teas & Tisanes - Jill Norman
Tea, tea and more tea!

133 Mercenary Mum - Neryl Joyce
The story of a female ex-soldier who becomes a private security contractor in the Middle East. I'm not sure I'll ever understand why someone, especially someone who is parent to a small child, would choose to put themselves in such a dangerous environment. Surely the only incentive is money but what is money compared with possibly leaving a child orphaned?

134 The Road to Little Dribbling - Bill Bryson
Classic Bill Bryson. If you've read his travel books before, you'll know what to expect.

135 What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding - Kristin Newman
Travelling and having sex with strangers, apparently.

Disappointing. I think I had high expectations because To Kill a Mockingbird is such a classic.

Very technical for a children's book!

A delightful children's book.

141 Badly Drawn Dog - Emma Dodson
A children's book. Is the author a fan of the musician Badly Drawn Boy?

An autobiography. To give him credit, the author is very honest about his life but it doesn't paint him in a good light.

143 Happy Birthday x 3 - Libby Gleeson
A children's book about triplets having a birthday.

144 Nova : My Story - Nova Peris
An autobiography of an Australian athlete turned politician. Written 10 years ago before her more recent foray into politics.
