I'm currently reading Citizen Hearst: A Biography of William Randolph Hearst by W. A. Swanberg, which is excellent. I also have a couple of other Hearst books, Hearst Over Hollywood by Louis Pizzitola and The Uncrowned King: The Sensational Rise of William Randolph Hearst by Kenneth Whyte. The latter book concerns Hearst's time in New York.

I'm finding Hearst to be an interesting character, but what has really gotten my attention is when Hearst was head of the San Francisco Examiner. Citizen Hearst has some coverage of this and the stories are fascinating. I'm just wondering if there is a book out there that focuses just on this time period, which would be 1887-1895, of Hearst's life and of course particularly as head of the paper.

Does anyone have some ideas about a book or two that cover this subject?
