Everyman's Library - First 954 Volumes

I've got a copy of the JM Dent August 1939 catalogue of the first 954 volumes I'm about to start typing out, but was wondering if anyone else had this listing already on the computer to save time?

First 1,000 volumes: 1906-1956 ( Published Dates)

Once I finish cross checking with my 1939 catalogue I'll post the list here (by EML number) for everyone's future reference.

Maybe, you can informed the blogger for any mistakes he made ih his listing. The blogger have done an useful website. Do you think so? You should thanked him , not really me.

How nice to buy J M Dent - Everyman's publication at one shilling a volume during the early 1900s, when GBP or Sterling One Pound was very strong. The titles are very interesting and fascinating for reading.The authors of prior 1900s and early 1900s took pains to write especially in nonfiction genre when bibliographies were limited for research.

No way, today,we can purchase a J M Dent - Everyman's title at a fraction of GBP 1.00. A reprint copy will cost as much as GBP 10.00. A used copy is neither affordable to obtain especially the used titles published prior to the 20th Century's period.

Maybe, the first publications are not superior in the binding or using acid-free paper for the pages.

I noticed some titles can be obtained FOC in the websites in many reading formats or even audio.I believe the copyright's period had expired ,and access to them is more relaxed.

I would be excited to find some titles I want to read being published in much affordable paperback editions especially for readers who want to read rather than collect them in their home libraries especially the first edition copies for posterity or trying to sell them at high prices in the future.. Do you think so?

Collecting and selling of rare and out of print books and materials is a very risky investment.There are not many people who want to buy expensive books besides library establishments,corporations, governments,universities and other related collectors.

Today , the titles are bought over or relaunced by Random House,Uk and Alfred A Knopf,USA..

The modern writers' titles by 2006, 100th Anniversary of J M Dent are much cheaper to purchase when compared to much older writers in 18th and 19th centuries.

Interesting to read a bit of Everyman's Library beginnings.
