I just received a first edition hardback copy of The Original of Laura in the mail last week. I was impressed by the quality of the paper and the facsimile reproduction of Nabokov's infamous note cards. What's even more interesting is that the note cards can be punched out of the pages (the edges of each card are perforated), so, if you wanted to, you could read the 'book' in its original form! I haven't started reading yet, but from the reviews I've seen, not too many Nabokov followers were happy about this book's release. If you have read this book, what is your impression? I'd love to get some input before I start digging in. Thanks!

I posted my thoughts about it in a review here:

There's an earlier (now dormant) thread in this group, as well as other reviews posted on the works page.

I couldn't not buy the book when it came out, but I half wish I hadn't read it.

Mine is still in its Original shrink-wrap. Hope pop and Dmitri are having a good laugh over it in the great beyond.
