Hello There!
My Friend is a teacher for a local High School - she is doing an international literature Unit for her Senior Class - She needs four more copies of Life of Pi ISBN 9780156027328 in good condition. I think any trade paperback size will probably work for her.
I'd be willing to pay three points per book. Thanks for Looking!

My mother has expressed interest in the author Mary Roach, who's published a good handful of books. Anyone willing to give away any of her titles?
(Any condition is fine; they only need to be readable.)
ETA: Found one! I'm now looking for these specific titles:
Stiff
Spook
Bonk
Packing for Mars
Gulp
My Planet

copy/pasting my post over in the BM forums:
looking for any books about Huntington's Disease
Medical texts, non-fiction informational books, fiction books about someone dealing with the progression of the disease... Pretty much anything.
Alice Wexler : The Woman Who Walked into the Sea: Huntington's and the Making of a Genetic Disease
Sandy Sulaiman : Learning to Live With Huntington's Disease: One Family's Story
Alice Wexler : Mapping Fate: A Memoir of Family, Risk, and Genetic Research
Are a few I've found (none available, of course). (Local library doesn't even have a book *mentioning* the disease, how sad is that?)

Hi Heather - I have a copy of Masha Gessen's Genetic Matters (which has a chapter on HD) which I was giving away anyway - it would go surface mail from the UK so if you're not in a hurry let me know and I'll put it in my BM inventory reserved for you.
There is not much fiction about HD that I've found, mostly you get things like in (I believe) The Future Homemakers of America where the character who has an affair is punished by the resulting child developing juvenile HD. There is also a memoir by someone French called The Test which is supposed to be good, but I haven't been able to get a copy.

My Mom has developed a yen to reread the Yellowthread Street series by William Leonard Marshall. If anyone has the following that they would be willing to send to Canada, please let me know thanks!
we need:
Skulduggery
Sci Fi
The Far Away Man
Frogmouth
Inches
BTW I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys police procedural mysteries with a completely whacked sense of humour.

I know this is a long shot- but I am looking for A Collector's Item Knitware Designs Inspired by the Burrell Collection
by Jade Starmore for my Aunt (it's her birthday and I want to get her something she really wants- and boy is she tricky!)
If anyone has any leads let me know! Thanks so much!

Does anyone have any good hockey-related books? Moochable or suggestions for my wishlist, either way.
12RidgewayGirl
No book suggestions, but Slap Shot is the greatest hockey movie of all time. Of all time, I tell you.
14Bjace
This isn't a greatest anything, but Murder without icing, an entry in the John Putnam Thatcher mystery series concerns the murder of a hockey player.

There's a hockey-themed romance series that my sister who loves hockey enjoyed... Deirdre Martin's New York Blades series.
16Quaisior
I didn't like Martin's hockey romance series, but Rachel Gibson's Seattle Chinooks Series was fun at first (but got kind of repetitious later on). I loved Simply Irresistible and See Jane Score though.
Gretzky by Wayne Gretzky was a great read. It's odd that I love hockey so much, but haven't read many books about it. I'm so excited that the NHL season begins today (even though my favorite team isn't playing until Thursday).

Ice Time: A Tale of Fathers, Sons and Hometown Heroes by Jay Atkinson is a Friday Night Lights for the hockey set. Atkinson embedded imself with a Massachusetts High School Hockey team for a year. Very entertaining.

I LOVE ALL OF YOU and forgot to check the group for the past few weeks. Not unusual for the past while, but unusual for after I've actually said something. :) (I haven't been doing much lately except go to work, sulk about work, and watch hockey games. I've been meaning to mail a box to BFK for four or five months, for example.) Thank you all for the recommendations! Someone actually had Murder Without Icing, and it's been a while since I read a solid mystery. I'm not super into romance novels, but I have to say that the covers on some of them are very attractive (HELLO, BOYS), and a few appear to have goalies as the main love interest. Favorites! And I should probably start reading more non-fiction.
Movies: I watched Slap Shot the other month! It's very Seventies. There's not a lot of protective gear. But it's fun and totally amazing. Do not watch Slap Shot 2, though, because you will never get that hour and a half of your life back, and it is not worth it just to watch Callum Keith Rennie and Jessica Steen (my reasons for watching). Goon is pretty enjoyable. I haven't watched Miracle yet, but I probably should, as a red-blooded American or whatever.

I haven't watched Slap Shot 2 and won't unless it also features Paul Newman in a vinyl suit. That man can make a fake leather suit look good.
