As a new publisher I am finding it confusing to wade through all the different forms of publishing. I had an easy time with my first printer. We chose the design together and I proof read and they printed. Then they went bust and I found a new printer with an attached design team. This worked well. The designers communicated with me until the book was ready for printing and then the printers did their bit, with all the money going through the designers. Next I found a partnership publisher who offered to reprint my first book. What I did not realise was that they used a number of printers, at a distance, and without that close working relationship the publication pathway broke down. Now I feel like trying a fourth company, or just publishing e-books. I think we need to know who is printing our work, and how.
