We were having a discussion on the Snuff spoiler thread and somehow it became more about which books we liked the most so I thought I'd create a new thread.
Just put down your top 3 or 5 or 15 discworld books! :)
My top three are
Night Watch
Thief of Time
Going Postal
Oh this is a terrible game; I love all the books so much and it is very hard to rank. Other favourites in no particular ranking order are: Unseen Academicals, Monstrous Regiment, The Wee Free Men, Guards! Guards!, Feet of Clay and Jingo.

Thud! or Night Watch probably. I also enjoy all the other Watch books, Going Postal, The Tiffany Aching books and Monstrous Regiment.

I’m also a Thud and Night Watch fan. But I’ll always have a soft spot for Mort – it was the book that made me an eternal Pterry-aholic.
On the other side of the coin, the only one I really disliked was Making Money, although I wish he hadn’t bothered to publish Unseen Academicals.

Although I have a great fondness for many of the Discworld books, particularly the early ones, without a doubt my favorites are Small Gods, Night Watch, Going Postal, and Hogfather.

I'm sure we've done this before somewhere but I can't find the thread.
Hogfather Thud and Lord and Ladies probably, somewhere round there, very hard to restrict is to three, Reaper man us also excellant.
Least favourite Colour of magic, Pyramids Interesting times although any with Rincewind aren't great.

i also like the early ones. especially Mort and Reaper Man, i love anything with Granny Weatherwax, and remember liking Small Gods quite a bit as well. I was really impressed with I Shall Wear Midnight as well.
i like the watch books, but mostly because of the patrician
5> i've also never been much of a rincewind fan although i do like the wizards
Ook!

6) I have a soft spot for the wizards as well. And although, Rincewind is a terrible character -- he is really consistently funny! And also Interesting Times was brilliant with him and Cohen and the Silver Horde and Teach. :(
I *love* Granny Weatherwax too. I have since Equal Rites. And I'm so glad we found out what happened to Esk. It always bugged me.

Wait, what happened to Esk? Oh, yeah, it said in I Shall Wear Midnight, although, I was reading too fast at that moment to properly absorb it. I look forward/dread to the the not too far off day when I have read all the Discworld books published so far. I've only two or three left to catch up on. I'm avoiding the Snuff threads and comments until I do.
What was this thread about? ;)
My favorites, and I'm sure we did have a thread about this, but then we have quite a few new members/posters now so it doesn't really matter, are:
Hogfather
Guards! Guards!
Color of Magic - I am a BIG fan of Rincewind
Carpe Jugulum
Coincidentally, these are also some of the first ones I read.
I suppose my least favorites so far (and that doesn't mean I don't like them) are Equal Rites, Monstrous Regiment, Wintersmith and Small Gods.

Thud
Night Watch
Pyramids
And a special runner-up award for I Shall Wear Midnight, which I thought was outstanding. Can't for the life of me see why it's promoted as being for 'younger readers'

Have you read Maurice? That definitely gets my vote for best YA Practchett.
12Aldrea_Alien
Reaper Man, Small Gods and Interesting Times most certainly have to be in my top three. Next would have to be anything with the watch or the witches. ^_^

I thought Maurice was wonderful too!
Likewise, I Shall Wear Midnight and of course, Night Watch was already in my top three. I just can't believe I overlooked Maurice.
On another note, I really liked The Bromeliad Trilogy too. Its not discworld but I must've read it over and over again.

At first I looked at this thread and thought ooohhh easy it's...and then I realised that no it isn't easy at all!!!!
I love Lords and Ladies - the witches are always wonderful, but I also think that Commander Vimes is brilliant and so that adds in Feet of Clay, Thud, etc.
Tiffany and the Nac Mac Feegles brilliant as well...WinterSmith????
Arrrrrrrrggggghhhhh, give up can't decide.

Guards! Guards!
Men at Arms
Jingo
And depending on my mood, the order may change a bit. Although the principle should be obvious.

So far I'd have to plump for Mort, though I must admit have I have only read 4 Discworld books so far.
EDITING this ... I did not see the "3 or 5 or 15" ...
The Light Fantastic
The Color of Magic
... I expect I will always have a soft spot for those first two books. :^)

I always go back to the Watch books, either Jingo, for Vimes in his highest Vimesness, or Fifth Elephant, which gives Sibyl some real depth and impressing her husband's socks off, or Thud!, for Vimes getting to be the family man.
18JanetMerza
Why only three? That's so unfair - it would have to be the later Sam Vimes ones - Night Watch and Thud and I'm going to cheat and include Good Omens, which isn't Discworld at all, but is superb...in fact having cheated once, I'm going to do it again and also recommend everyone go and read Nation...
