Hey gang,

I tried a game concerning fairy tale characters and their books.
http://www.librarything.com/topic/119705
is a sample.
I posted on Book Talk, and they didn't go very far. Would you like to play this game here?

Au contraire, I really enjoyed the responses posted on Book Talk. I'm all for this!

Can I suggest Jack, of Beanstalk fame? He might have had Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance: Reflections on Raising Chickens by Martin Gurdon in the kitchen, though I suspect it would have fallen behind the dresser and he wouldn't have bothered to look for it. He might still have found it useful when he acquired the Giant's hen.

Okay, too small of a forum here. Ed, let's either take it back to Book Talk or Playing Games and solving puzzles. What do you think? It might be more appropriate for the games group, but most of their postings drive me nuts. I wouldn't want to join that group, as my Groups page would be awfully cluttered.
Thinking on Jack...

I think Jack might have a copy of Grow a Giant Beanstalk and 15 More Amazing Plant Projects, mainly to prevent any further accidents.

well, okay!

He'll also need Early Music for the Harp and Dealing with Giants.

Rather academic for Jack, so he mightn't have gone round to reading it before he set out on his adventure, is Of Giants: Sex, Monsters, and the Middle Ages. Mind you, if he had read it he might never have stirred from home in the first place.

I'm suspecting that the Giant did NOT have I'm OK, You're OK by Thomas A Harris on his shelves. Or if he did, didn't apply transactional analysis in his social dealings.

Mother Jack just went out and bought How to Talk So Children Will Listen, by Adele Faber.

Jack must surely have had The Cottager's Companion by D. S. Savage, a handbook for "successful unsubsidised country living" (it says here in my copy), though (as with a couple of other books mentioned above) it's doutful he would have read it.

Come to think of it, nor have I. Charming line pictures, though.

Someone must own a copy of Cooking for Jack.

Mind if I introduce this game to The Green Dragon? They're a fun lot. Nearly 2750 members, but it's typically the same handful looking for a fun game or discussion. I can start over with them, or link back to this thread, if you guys would like to continue. :)

That sounds like a very good idea. I've wandered over there and enjoyed myself.

Is it time to investigate a new library? How about Red Riding Hood's? I think I can spot Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson on her family bookshelves.

Can we start a new thread for each of the different characters, please? That'll keep it clean for future additions by latecomers.
