I've been hearing that a bunch of studios in the Los Angeles area have gone out of business. Is there any wisdom to trying to start my own bindery?

You might want to talk to some of the people who have gone out of business. They could probably give you a better idea of the odds of your making it that those of us who are not familiar with the LA area.
