Greetings, I am new to the group. I am reading two books currently. An Empire Divided: The American Revolution and the British Caribbean by Andrew Jackson O'Shaughnessy. That Noble Dream by Peter Novick.

Please let us know what you think of Novick's book. I have had it on my wishlist for a long time.
I am currently reading An Unfinished Revolution, Karl Marx and Abraham Lincoln by Robin Blackburn

I certainly will give a review. This is a book with a lot of memories for me. I was assigned this book in 1994 the first semester of my Master's work at the University of Southern Mississippi. I saw the book as an obstacle to overcome. Here I am starting my Doctoral studies at the University of Memphis and the first major assigned book? Novick, of course! This time, I am working on my attitude as I approach the book. I have chosen to not skim the book. I am taking each page almost as a discrete unit. At the end of each chapter I am going back and writing some notes.

It's a long time ago, but I found The Embarrassment of Riches by Simon Schama a real masterpiece!

I'm interested to hear what you think of An Empire Divided. I recently heard O'Shaughnessy on a Stanford University podcast and added the book to my tbr pile.
