Undershaw was one of the homes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It was designed by him and contains a number of unique, specially-commissioned features.

It is the place where he did much of his writing, working on The Return... and The Hound... whilst living there.

It is currently under threat from a proposal by a firm of developers to divide it into three properties. A counter-proposal, spearheaded by actor/TV presenter/author Mark Gatiss is to turn it into a museum/visitor centre.

What`s your view ? Further details from www.saveundershaw.com and http://undershawhelp.blogspot.com.

Thank you, Mr/Ms Unexpected.

I case anyone didn`t know, the judge ruled in favour of the Undershaw Preservation Trust.

The local authority had a chance to appeal, though the time allowed them to do so ran out yesterday I think. As far as I know, they`ve not done so.

However, it`s not all over yet, as now the big question is how the building fares in the future.

Interested parties can find out more by visiting the Trust`s website.
