Order of Audio books?

Greets:

I'm lost on the Doctor who audio books and was hoping to have some help. I recently gave Doctor Who: Zagreus a listen to and have to admit I was pretty much at a loss on what was occurring and who was who on it.

Looking through what I have as part of my collection and the different series, I was wondering if there was a suggest order of which series I should listen to as a start:

We have the Companion series:

It probably helps if you know who the companions are (and the Doctors, I guess), and if you can recognize their voices in a show (which comes after listening to them for a while). Zagreus would be particularly bad to start off with because it's got SO many characters in it; I hope you have better luck with Key 2 Time! :D

Anyway, basically what I do is pick a Doctor I want to listen to, find an audio that's near the start of an arc, and continue onwards from there. I don't think it particularly matters which order you listen to them in, as long as you're not starting in the middle of a story arc or something.

You may find this article at the Doctor Who wiki helpful; it lists the series and you can figure out which story goes where in a storyline if needed. It also explains the Gallifrey/Unbound stuff.

http://www.librarything.com/series/Big+Finish+Doctor+Who+DWM+Releases isn't the list of Big Finish audios. It's the list of Big Finish audios which have been included in issues of Doctor Who Monthly. Either that, or it's stories which were published (in print) in DWM, and then recorded by Big Finish. Or something like that. I'm not aquainted with it ;)

I can put together a list of Big Finish audios in release order (I've just bought the first fifty in their recent sales), but that's not related to the order of events in the Doctor's personal timeline (ha! Even the first story, Doctor Who - The Sirens of Time covers events from the fifth, sixth and seventh incarnations).

Ah, looking for that was useful. It's lead me to http://www.librarything.com/series/Doctor+Who%3A+The+Audio+Adventures which, for entries 1 to 50 (at the very least) covers the Big Finish monthly releases.

I haven't personally heard Zagreus (only read a synopsis), but it's possibly the worst place to start, because it requires knowledge of all the Eighth Doctor stories that came before it. It also has a bit of a Marmite reputation.

The Eighth Doctor also has (had) a range of his own, which can be found on LT here. This would be a good place to start if you want (mostly) good stories, like the Eighth Doctor, and don't want to bother with figuring out chronology.

Wikipedia has the same list, but in a way that allows you to tell at a glance which characters are in the stories. Knowing where to start on these requires a bit more work, for which I would recommend these sites:
