So here I go. I think I will start by setting my goal fairly low. From now (May 27th) until the end of the year, I will try to read at least 15 books off of my shelf that I already have.

I think that the one book I will continually avoid however is "Moby Dick". About 3 years ago I started it and got about 2 chapters in and decided that if I ever get back to it, I will either have no other books to read or I will have to have a degree in Literature to comprehend this book fully.

But maybe, just maybe the day might come that I dust it off and crack the spine and sit down for a month and finish reading it. But I feel that my retirement will have to come first.

Today I will pull my first book off of the shelf and start with this new challenge to go along with the 50 book challenge I have started as well.

Good luck to everyone with their challenges.

Thank you staffordcastle for the welcome!

I am very excited to be working on a challenge. I love books and a friend gave me this website, and I have renewed my love for books even more now because I have other people I can talk to about the books that I love.

So the first "Book Off of my Shelf" was actually one I was already reading, so I am going to use it for this challenge.

I was reading Stieg Larrson's "The Girl who Played with Fire". Very interesting book. I like the way that Larrson writes, however have a hard time getting into the beginning of the book. The plot is very interesting, and once I get towards the end of the book I find that the beginning parts of the book were vital to understanding the rest of the books. Now that I have read the first and second books in this series, I feel as though I kind of know what the third book is going to be about. In the second book, you are kind of just left hanging with the two main characters, with no explanation of a lot of different things.

I do not have the third book in my collections at this point, so I will most likely not read it for quite a while if I want to stick to only reading Books off the Shelf.

Next "Book off the Shelf" post coming soon.......

Thank you DeltaQueen50. I am looking forward to trying to meet this challenge.

I have finished another two books off of my shelf over the weekend, and I am just now getting to posting about them. The first one I finished was from a series about book mysteries. If books could kill by Kate Carlisle was a fun mystery with a great cast of characters. The plots in each of these books tend to follow the same path, however, they are still a fun, quick read for me.

The second book off of my shelf was a quick christian romance, which I always seem to find uplifting. I have about 50 of these books and sometimes like to read them in between some of the longer more though-provoking books just to give my mind a rest.

The next book I am working on is a longer book and will require more of my time.

Next post coming in a while.....
