What is everyone's favorite 20th century Japanese novel? Mine is probably Kawabata's Snow Country or Mishima's Temple of the Golden Pavilion. By the way how do you get the names of the books in blue?

It's called 'touchstones'. You put single brackets ( ) around titles and double brackets ( ) around authors. It will then link them and collect the titles at the right side of the page.

As for 20th century Japanese fiction. Maybe still my favorite was Battle Royale. I couldn't put it down. Not often that happens to me (I'm a slow reader). I've also been enjoying Edogawa Ranpo recently. I haven't read a whole lot of his works yet so I can't say which is the best, but the short story Stalker in the Attic was really good.

I liked Kinkakuji as well, but I really need to read more Mishima.
