On average, how many books do you tend to read a month? How about a year?

How many books I per month and year depends on whether I'm doing the 75 book challenge. I read 79 last year (6.5 per month) and I'm trying again for 75 this year (8.5 so far, but that includes some YA lit). I also count audiobooks that I listen to on my commute.

In a normal year I tend to read between 50 to 60 books, but how many a month varies depending on whether I'm reading something heavier like Democracy in America or The Republic compared with Harry Potter.

Currently, I'm reading Stoicism which is very good, but also slow because I'm trying to understand it.

I usually read between 40-50 books a year.

>3 poetontheone:, I think that's a goodly number. I recently lowered my expectations from a goal of 75 books to 50. I'm now wondering if I'll even make 50, but as long as the books are good I won't worry too much about quantity.

About 10 books a month, of which only one or two are likely to be philosophy or theory. The others are distributed across literary fiction, genre fiction, history, religion, and miscellaneous other. I don't do challenges, but LT has gradually sucked me into the habit of reviewing every book I read. My current philosophy read is The Fiery Brook.

>5 paradoxosalpha:, There are worse habits to have. I wished I reviewed more but I'm afraid they'd all sound like, "this was a really, really good book... blah, blah, blah.... I admire those who actually manage to write useful reviews. Like you, though, I don't formally do the 50- or 75-book challenge. I just do what I can.
