The Winter 2011 issue of the Naval War College Review has an outstanding article on the naval battles of Guadalcanal.
The article is titled, Asymmetric Warfare at Sea, The Naval Battles of Guadalcanal, 1942-1943, and the author is Thomas Mahnken.
