I plan on doing a bunch of reading this year, whilst I am on the bus to and from work. This is my attempt to stay on track.

So far, I have read:
The River Wife - Jonis Agee I gave this one 5 stars, and it appears that there were many varied reviews on it.

I just started The White Queen - Philippa Gregory which seems promising so far and is part of a 3 part series. I am big fan of historical fiction.

Oh yes, and I can't forget Pope Joan by Donna Cross - I think I am a convert to the idea that there was a female Pope during the 9th Century... and the book was excellent! 5 stars!

Just finished The Red Queen, and I liked it, but found it much more difficult to relate to the main character, and I don't believe it was a very accurate portrayal of Margaret Beaufort.

Next up, The Captive Queen

Finished the book mentioned in the previous post, and I have to say, I prefer the biography by Alison to the fiction.

I started reading Emma, but I am hardly through the introduction. While I admire the awesome power of Jane Austen, I must move on to read books that get me through the sometimes long Denver winter bus commute.

So, I read another book by Philippa Gregory, The Queen's Fool. Although it isn't base on a singular person but was rather a story told to reflect the plight of Jews in Europe during The Spanish Inquisition (in part), it was told in such a sweeping fashion, with extraordinary clarity, I could almost see the battle of a walled city unfold in front of my eyes. I gave this one 4 stars, the first time I have done that for a book from this author.

The next book will be The Virgin's Lover, and I very much look forward to it!

I the meantime, I have to mention that I have also read 4 back-issues of "The Pastel Journal", a specialty magazine for Pastelists, which I am.

Finished The Virgin's Lover by Philippa, and I can tell you that I look at Queen Elizabeth in a while new light.

Just read two great mysteries by Karin Fossum, He Who Fears the Wolf and The Indian Bride which were both fantastic mysteries. I love the characters and although the author leaves things somewhat open ended, I find them truly enjoyable. I can never wait to get to the end.

I now have several more Pastel Journals to read as well.

Coming up, I have two books by Sophie Hannah, The Truth Teller's Lie and The Dead Lie Down

I read little snippets of them at the library and I think I am going to like them.

2) The Witch's Trinity by Erika Mailman
3) Rasputin's Daughter, by Robert Alexander

Hi abbie, what did you think of The Physik Book of Deliverance Dane? I listened to that one on tape while knitting and really enjoyed it! I love books set in Salem, MA!

I loved it! I have never been to MA or the east coast, but I felt an interest in visiting that area after reading it. There was a spooky atmosphere to the book that wasn't overdone.

I decided not to look at the CBAP book, since it would suck the life out of my soul.

I have read several short stories by H.P.Lovecraft
1) The Beast in the Cave
2) The Alchemist
3) The Tomb
4) Dagon
5) A Reminiscence of Dr. Samuel Johnson
6) Polaris
7) Beyond the Wall of Sleep
8) Memory by H.P.Lovecraft
9) Old Bugs
10) The Transition of Juan Romero
11) The White Ship

In addition to those short stories, I have been reading the Night Watch series, by Sergei Lukyanenko
1) Night Watch
2) Day Watch - currently reading
3) Twilight Watch -yet to read
4) Last Watch -yet to read

since I am still pretty low on the list for the Hunger Games, and Madame Tussaud. I'll keep myself busy reading.

Night Watch and Day Watch are also movies, which I will put on my Netflix queue. The books are interesting, and I want to see how they were envisioned by someone else.
