Please take a moment to sign this petition to save the Ritman Library.

It is really one of the foremost research collections for hermetic philosophy and western esoteric religion. I've done research there myself, and the loss of this collection would be a big setback to scholarship on these topics.

Yes, I knew Mr. Ritman and his library is a monument - and it deserves to be treated as such. (But what I don't buy into is the fact that I apparently have to pay in order to sign this petition).

No, you can sign the petition without giving money to the host site. It just asks you for a contribution very immediately thereafter.

If someone wants to spend money in this cause, it should go toward the library itself, which is charging admission fees as of September of this year. (It was formerly free to researchers.)

Okay, I will try again.

Anyway: I totally agree this is a great library on hermetism, alchemy, &c. I've consulted it many times in the past (especially when it was just Mr. Ritman's personal library). It's a collection that deserves respect. It doesn't necessarily have to remain in Amsterdam of course, whatever, but it does need preservation.

A worthy cause.

Sad. Though, under the circumstances, I'm glad that at least the core collection will be well preserved in the Dutch National Library.
