The Interregnum

I have recently enjoyed two novels that immersed me in different parts of the Tudor age--Wolf Hall and A Dead Man at Deptford, and have just done a skimming read of a recently released history of Charles II, A Gambling Man. And now--before I return to the latter half of the 17th C.--I really would like to get myself better informed on The Interregnum. Any suggestions?

I have just bought 2 books on this very subject (which I am currently also reading up on) - Ronald Hutton's 'The British Republic 1649-1660' and Michael Lynch's 'The Interregnum 1649 -60', both of which I have yet to read although I have just started on Hutton (he is a Professor at Bristol University). I know that Hutton will be good as I have twice heard him lecture (once on the Civil War and once on Henry VIII) and he has published several books on the Civil War. I also suggest you do an Internet search on the subject and related topics such as the Levellers, Cromwell (of course). There is a lot of information our there.
