- Despite its title (1), this work heavily concentrates upon Caesar's two expeditions to Britain. Although the book does briefly address the majority of Caesar's campaigns which occurred in Gaul (1), that coverage is limited and not particularly informative.A recommended read for those with a particular interest in the invasions of Britain. For an analysis of Caesar's overall Gallic campaign (1), there are far better works available. One last point is that the author sometimes repeats historical fiction. For example (1), inexplicably the author claims that Caesar's foray into Alexandria resulted in the "almost total destruction" of the library of Alexandria. To the contrary (1), scholarship has proven this claim is nothing more than myth. Such mistakes diminish the author's overall credibility. (1)
