About My Library
These are they. These are the books I read for fun and include an insane amount of post colonial literature. Lurking about is the necessary brain candy of murder, mystery, and romance...forever running quickly through the margins are the picture books that I own for surprise storytimes. A few of the books are unread and the result of book buying madness and the inability to read quickly enough and there are many young adult novels that I'm swiftly falling in love with. The young adult novels sometimes have the best stories.
About Me
I'm a Children's Librarian...which I guess is a good place to start. The start was really early on when there was a dream of dance and a serious illness that put me on a different track. People interest me, so I studied psychology only to find that literature was my true passion.

The love a book had me working at Powell's Books in Portland Oregon for 7 years. Surrounded by millions of books and thousands of readers, I thought I'd found heaven. But there was no challenge...and it lacked the thrill I crave.

Library School: I never studied anything more bland in my life. Managing information, organizing information, information resources, meta data, cataloging...gads! Herein lies the lesson in life: the things you want are worth the effort...and very exciting! I love being a librarian!

I still read like a madwoman, but now I get to do *oh* so much more. My experience as a bookseller and my never ending quest to develop the perfect young adult/children's collection have led to strange reading habits. My favorites are foreign authors writing about foreign countries. Different cultures and the ways people interact fascinate me.

Other than that I have a fantastic little Boston Terrier named Rhubarb, make a mean pot of soup, tear up around road kill, write bad poetry, paint mediocre paintings and recite "please don't run in the library" like a mantra that will bring peace to mankind.
