Om mit bibliotek“My life has a superb cast but I can’t figure out the plot.” Ashley Brilliant
This library is comprised of plays and musicals featuring LGBTQ characters and themes. Also included are biographies and autobiographies of LGBTQ actors, directors, playwrights and others connected to theater along with related reference materials. In addition to my personal theater-going experiences, the collection is primarily based on three sources:
• For the Gay Stage: A Guide to 456 Plays, Aristophanes to Peter Gill by Drewey Wayne Gunn
• Gay and Lesbian American Plays: An Annotated Bibliography by Ken Furtado and Nancy Hellner
• www.doollee.com
I have included only plays in print or available for download. Plays in electronic format available for download are shown with a generic cover and their publication date is given the year of the play's copyright or lastest reading/workshop or professional production, if known. New Play Exchange is a good source for unpublished plays. Check electronic sources for the latest versions.
Plays I have seen are noted and the summaries are my own. Summaries of plays I have not seen are from the above sources, Wikipedia, blurbs or reviews.
