About My Library
I am now building my book collection. As of now, I have around 30 books but I still have like a dozen or more books yet to read. I have this bad habit of buying books but in the end I don't read them. It's either I don't have the time or I just can't be bothered to read them. But no worries, I will read them all in 2012 as a part of my new year resolution.

80% of my book collection are fiction works. I just have a soft spot for fiction works. Probably it's because I love that feeling when my imagination is driven by the plot or how the author perfectly describe the characters. On the other hand, non-fiction works usually bore me to death. I don't know why. Maybe they don't move me as much as fiction works do. However, I still need to be open-minded and start read more non-fiction.

To be honest, I don't really have a favourite author just as Peter Benchley said, "I read very widely, both non-fiction and fiction, so I don't think there's a single writer who influences me." But I have an affinity towards Japanese fiction now after I've read The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle & Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. My mind was blown away after reading those 2 books. So I would like to read more on that.

Everyone is open to recommend me worth-reading books, both fiction and non-fiction.
About Me
Hi everyone! I'm Anwar Arsyad, 16 and from Brunei Darussalam. I have a slight feeling that you don't know where Brunei is. Google it up.

Anyway, I'm like everybody else, curious about so many things. I'm a left-brained person so that should describe about 50% of my characteristics. Logical, analytical, I like my ducks in a row, I like classical music, huge interest in Physics & Math (I would like to become a Physics Professor, join the CERN team in finding the Higgs boson or receive the Nobel Prize in Physics. That'd be out-of-the-world awesome!). I spent the last 7 years studying in a local Arabic School. So as of now, I can speak & write in 3 languages: Malay (my native language), English (my second language) and Arabic (advanced-intermediate). & I plan on learning French in the near future.

So how did my love for reading start? It was back in 2008, when I was in Form 2. I desperately wanted to improve my written English and I thought maybe by reading more, I could gradually improve it. So the first 2 books I bought were The Feather Boy by Nicky Singer & 25th Hour by David Benioff. Back then, I judged a book by its cover and both books have attractive covers. It turned out that both books were surprisingly good (although I wouldn't recommend a 10 years old kid to read 25th Hour. Too explicit. Haha.). Since then, my book collection has grown. And I do believe my written English has improved through reading more books although writing is not really my strong suit. I dream of having a private mini library of my own in the future and I'd like to instill the love of reading in my children. To enhance my reading experience, I usually read while listening to the music of Kings Of Convenience, The National, United Future Organization or Late Romantic classical music pieces.

Oh whoa Anwar, great job in coming up with such a lengthy description of myself. I don't think anyone would want to read the whole thing. If you did read it, hey we can be great friends. Last but not least, I hope to find people with the same interest as I have here!
