About My Library
My library is a collection of books I love and books I have collected for my children. Their tastes are similar to mine, except that they also like mangas, which I do not care to read. (I think that comes from my mother insisting that comic books are not really books when I was a child.) I have a large number of new fantasies with authors like Juliet Marillier, Megan Whalen Turner, Patricia McKillip, and Robert Jordan. I also have a large assortment of young adult fiction, which I enjoy reading myself--"all the rush, without the blush." I enjoy the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling; they are a quick, easy read but with so much depth of character.
There is also a large collection of classic books in my library, mostly in e-book format, thanks to the Sony reader and Google presenting a half a million classic books in a digital format. This collection includes Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jane Austen, and Rudyard Kipling.
I believe my library is an extension of myself. While I am a grown woman, mother of six, I still enjoy a healthy dose of fantasy in my life.
About Me
I love books! My love for books has lead to my greatest joy, teaching children how to read. There is nothing else quite like it: Seeing the light come in a child's eyes when he realize that those little black marks in a book make a story in his head. My personal favorite genre is fantasy. I used to read a lot of historical fiction, but I found that I would later have trouble remembering what was the history and what was the fiction, so I switched to fantasy where I do not have that problem. The characters still have the same personal problems they must work through whether it is a book of current events or one in a galaxy far, far away.
