My favourite reading material is Fantasy but I pick up anything that strikes me as interesting, I don't like to limit myself to one thing or another. Everything is fiction unless its factual (states the obvious). Tags like literature, fantasy, romance, mainstream, science fiction, chick lit, comics, historical are sometimes too much like national flags for people to rally under and fight for even though they are useful in finding a style of fiction you would like to read. As long as it gives pleasure then it has fulfilled its promise. That pleasure can be found in the characters, setting, plot, story; or something deeper that is intellectual, spiritual, emotional or stimulating. I'm not sure if reading can be life changing but books are doors that can lead you to different places. And while books have given me different insights and affirmed some of my views I'm more a believer that you learn by doing and making mistakes. Nevertheless, books have been an ever present in my life because I love reading and I can't see that ever changing.
