About My Library
Books about printing and by printers. Fine press books from Morris to contemporary with some 14th century ephemera. Books about art, writing, editing etc. Lots of books about fly fishing too...

About 20 years ago I was given an impressive library of books by the daughter of George Kenyan Hebb who served as president of the United Typothetae of America in 1924-5 and as a result was in the inner circle of all the best printers, designers, graphic artists and private press owners of the time. Many of the books are inscribed to Hebb and many of them have his book plates. He was president of his own nationally renowned printing house (Evans-Winter-Hebb) in Detroit, MI and during that time had a lending library of many of these books out of his office for any employee to borrow. Some of them even have library cards glued into the back.

These books which I am cataloging here with the tag GKH are the true basis of my knowledge and printing skills. The pure luck to learn from the masters of the art and examine the skill and technique at close observation to better inform my own quest toward beautiful books.
About Me
I make these things. Design the book from the ground up and illustrate with intaglio, lino and wood engravings. Cast the type on my Linotype, print it via letterpress usually on a Vandercook 219OS and bind them as well. All in house here at Deep Wood Press.
