The Japanese Art of Miniature Trees and Landscapes: Their Creation, Care, and Enjoyment, by Yuji Yoshimura & Giovanna M. Halford, Charles E. Tuttle Co., 1957. Distinguished as one of the first books in English on the subject (as well as its extraordinarily long title), this book has been recently re-released under the new title The Art of Bonsai-- not to be confused with Mr. Adams' book of the exact same title. The photographs, while almost exclusively black & white, are superb examples of bonsai. There is a very good chapter on formal bonsai display (Tokonoma & Keido). Mr. Yoshimura has created an excellent reference book; almost all aspects of bonsai horticulture and art are looked to well.… (mere)
