Fun Fantasy Adventure Novel

This fast-paced, riveting fantasy adventure story is hard to put down. Best friends Jonathon and Marly have grown up together. When Amia, a mysterious lost woman appears, Jonathon tries to help her return home. Jonathon, Amia, Marly, and Jonathon’s grandfather Matthew enter a portal that leads them into another world, encountering strange creatures, some of them dangerous. And Jonathon and Marly, on the cusp of adulthood, become aware of their deeper feelings for each other.

This is a fun novel full of colourful, interesting characters and unexpected plot twists. Highly recommended.

One thing that stuck out for me in this young adult fantasy was the great names! Snuggla - Pugg very fun!

There is a lot to keep track of in this book, especially the clans. Once you get a grasp on it, there is an amazing tale! I love the idea of being whisked away into a new land via Forrest! This is a great family read you don't want to miss.

Favourite line - "Oh, sheep-dirt"

It's been a while since I read book one, but it all came rushing back the moment I started reading. The Stalker is a classic, easy-to-read, young adult novel. Each chapter is divided between the perspectives of different characters, which I love.
I recommend reading the first book before setting out on this adventure. The same cast of characters are back plus a few more and everyone is following everyone!
Peace fades and a war is looming. With a stranger to escort, friends and family to protect, and others to warn, Johnathon certainly has his work cut out for him.
Enjoyable to the end!

I loved this story. The idea of disappearing into a magical land made me think of Alice in Wonderland. The plot of this book is rather simple. A boy’s mother goes missing and then his father does too after going after her. Anxiously, the boy, Jonathon, goes in after them. Within the woods, all three of them experience the strange world in their own ways.

There is so much going on that as the story begins to combine the separate storylines, the twists make the book impossible to put down. The worldbuilding was thorough and well thought out though I think the story could have been strengthened with a little more understand of the Grue’s culture.
