The Long Detour: The History and Future of the… af James Weinstein

Weinstein has a thesis. I usually have a hard time reading books that come down to a simple thesis, but this one works. His thesis--that Communism ruined the potential of socialism in the United States--is hard to disagree with. Its really a long look at what started out beautiful and powerful, but has led to either a smaller and smaller group of people advocating for the worker, or a group of communist puppets that served at the whim of the Soviets. Whetted my apetite for more about the labor movement and socialism in general.… (mere)
