This book presents the top 31 ideas out of more than 4,000 suggestions put forth by children in Great Britain on ways to change the world. From “teach your granny to text,” to “grow something and eat it,” this book helps children think about the little things they can do to make a difference.

I'll give it 4 stars for the idea, although there weren't as many new ideas as I'd hoped! When flipping through, I seemed to immediately stumble on the ones that sparked my interest, and the rest weren't as neat. :) Still, what a great kind of book to get more people involved in the small changes that build in the right direction.

This book was written by an organization called, “We Are What We Do”. They asked thousands of kids for ideas on how to change the world. They chose the best 31 and put them together in this book. It includes everything from “look closer” and “ask why” to “don’t charge your cell phone overnight”. It is wonderful. The illustrations are engaging, colorful, and interesting. The back of the book says, “small actions x lots of people = big change”.

It is really important for me to instill a sense of social responsibility in my students. I think books like this are great tools in that quest. It shows kids (and adults) that helping the world doesn’t have to be some grand thing that a genius comes up with. It can be small, meaningful actions that make a big difference. I think everyone should own this book and read it to a child (or lots of children)!… (mere)
